Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026 · Effective: June 4, 2026
Freebird is built around a simple promise: the personal things stay on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, and no email to hand over. This policy explains exactly what stays on your device, the small amount of anonymous data that leaves it, and the choices you control. It applies to the Freebird iPhone and Android app and this website (together, the "Service"), operated by Freebird ("we," "us").
The short version. Your birthday, interests, saved items, ZIP, and value ledger never leave your device. We have no accounts, so nothing is tied to your identity. The only data that leaves your phone is anonymous: product analytics (via Firebase) and an opt-in push notification token.
1. What stays on your device
The following are stored only on your device (in local app storage) and are never uploaded to us or anyone else. They are not part of any account, because Freebird has no accounts.
- Your birthday (month and day) — used only to schedule local reminders on your device before birthday sign-up deadlines.
- Your interests — used only to order your feed locally.
- Your home ZIP code — used only to surface nearby offers locally; we do not collect precise location.
- Your saved items and your value ledger (what you have claimed and its approximate value).
- Your name (if provided) — used only for personalization within the app.
Because these never leave your phone, they are not included in our App Store privacy label as collected data. If you delete the app, this on-device data is removed with it.
2. What leaves your device
The only data that leaves your phone is anonymous — it is not tied to your name, email, account, or precise location, because we collect none of those.
Anonymous product analytics
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand which parts of the app are useful and to detect crashes. These services collect:
- A Firebase installation ID (a random identifier not tied to your identity);
- Anonymous usage events (e.g. app opens, feed sections viewed, saves, claim taps);
- Crash reports and diagnostics (stack traces, device model, OS version);
- Coarse context such as app version and OS major version.
We deliberately do not log: your birthday or anything derived from it; your name, email, phone, or any account ID (none exist); precise location; or any free text such as search queries or typed notes.
Consent Mode v2 is configured with ad_storage=denied and analytics_storage=granted. No advertising identifiers are collected or transmitted.
Push notification token
If you opt in to notifications, your device registers an anonymous push token with Apple Push Notification service (or Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android) so we can send birthday reminders and free-day alerts you asked for. The token carries no personal information and no birthday. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device Settings.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links to brand websites may include affiliate tracking parameters. These allow us to earn a small commission if you complete a transaction after tapping a link. The affiliate network may collect standard click data (timestamp, referring app). No personal data from Freebird is shared with affiliate partners.
3. No accounts, no identity
Freebird has no sign-in, no email, no password, and no user profile. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account identifier, and we do not build a profile that could re-identify you. Under Apple's framework, this means no data is "linked to you," because there is no identity to link it to.
4. How we use anonymous data
We use the anonymous data above only to:
- Keep the feed current and improve curation and ranking;
- Send the notifications you opt in to (birthday reminders, free-day alerts);
- Detect and fix crashes and performance issues;
- Process reports of expired or incorrect offers.
We measure in order to make content more relevant — never to justify spam or to profile you.
5. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal data, and we have no personal data tied to an identity to sell. We work with the following service providers, which handle data only as described above:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics (Google) | Anonymous usage analytics | Anonymous events; Firebase installation ID; coarse device info |
| Firebase Crashlytics (Google) | Crash reporting and diagnostics | Crash logs; device model; OS version; Firebase installation ID |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) | Push notification delivery | Anonymous push token |
| Apple Push Notification service | Delivering notifications you opt in to | Anonymous push token |
| GitHub / jsDelivr (static hosting) | Hosting this website and the offers feed | Standard web server logs (e.g. IP address) per the host's policy |
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. Google's handling of analytics data is described at policies.google.com/privacy. We may also disclose data if required by law.
6. Notifications
Notifications are entirely opt-in. Birthday reminders are scheduled locally on your device from the birthday you set, so they work without sending your birthday anywhere. You can turn notifications off any time in your device Settings.
7. Retention
On-device data stays until you change or delete it, or delete the app. Anonymous analytics pings are retained in aggregate only and contain no identity. Provider-held data (e.g. Firebase analytics, host server logs) is retained per each provider's policy.
8. Children
Freebird is rated 4+ and is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and the app collects no personal data from anyone. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us and we will address it.
9. Your choices and rights
- Notifications: opt in or out in your device Settings.
- On-device data: edit your birthday, interests, ZIP, and saved items in the app at any time, or delete the app to remove all on-device data.
- Analytics: because pings are anonymous and carry no identifier linked to you, there is no profile to access, correct, or delete. Deleting the app stops all future pings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA. Because we hold no data tied to your identity, most such requests are satisfied by the controls above. You may still contact us with any privacy question (section 11).
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note them in the app or on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
11. Contact
Because Freebird has no accounts and collects no personal data tied to your identity, you can manage everything yourself from within the app and your device Settings, as described above. For privacy questions, you can reach us through the support channel listed on the app's App Store page.
