Privacy Policy

FreeRecall respects your privacy. There is no account and no sign-in, and we collect as little as possible to run the app. To help keep the app free, it shows ads served by Google AdMob; this policy explains what that involves and what stays on your device.

Data stored on your device

Saved recalls and your recovered total: stored locally on your device only. We never upload them.
App settings: such as your notification and appearance preferences, stored locally.

Anonymous diagnostics

FreeRecall sends anonymous, aggregate usage and crash data — plus anonymous ad-performance events (an ad shown, tapped, or failed to load, and aggregate revenue) — to Google Firebase to help us improve stability, the experience, and ad performance. This data is not linked to your identity and does not include the advertising identifier described below. It is on from first launch so that early crashes are caught, and the app does not offer a separate switch to turn it off. Your ad-personalization choice is separate and is described below; you can revisit it any time in Settings.

Advertising

FreeRecall shows ads served by Google AdMob to help keep the app free. On iOS, Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt controls whether ads can use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) to personalize them; if you decline (or haven’t decided), ads still show, just not personalized. In the EU/UK/EEA, a Google consent form (UMP) asks for your consent before any personalized ad. Ad partners never receive the recalls you save, your claim activity, or any recovered amount. Ads appear only in the app versions that include them; on an earlier version you will see none, though this policy still describes what the app is built to do.

Recall feed and product images

The app loads the public recall feed and product photos over secure (HTTPS) connections. Product images are served by third-party hosts (such as manufacturer, retailer, and government image servers). When an image loads, that host can see your device’s IP address and which image was requested, exactly as any website that displays an image can. We send these hosts no account or personal information.

Data we do NOT collect

No account, name, email, or sign-in
No advertising identifier unless you allow tracking (iOS App Tracking Transparency) — ads still show either way, just not personalized if you decline
No financial information or government ID numbers
We never sell, rent, or share your personal information

Your rights

Change your ad tracking choice at any time (iOS: Settings app → Privacy & Security → Tracking; EU/UK/EEA: also from FreeRecall’s Settings → Ad privacy)
Turn notifications on or off in Settings, or in your device settings
Delete everything by removing the app — your saved recalls, categories, and recovered total live only on your device
GDPR (EEA/UK): Right to access, rectify, erase, and restrict processing
CCPA (California): Right to know, delete, and opt out of sale (we do not sell data)

Children’s privacy

FreeRecall is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
